Himachal Pradesh · Best: Jun–Sep
The Hampta Pass crossing links two very different Himalayas in one walk: the green, rain-fed Kullu valley on one side and Lahaul's bare high-desert on the other. Most itineraries take 4–5 trekking days from Jobra, crossing the 4,270 m pass mid-route, and many batches end with a drive to Chandratal Lake.
The pass day is the long one — 9–10 hours with snow patches into July and a steep scree descent on the Lahaul side. June to September is the season; rain and river crossings peak in July–August, so shoulder-month batches are noticeably easier.

A review rates five things
Every one of them is something a brochure can't tell you.
“I booked a 30-person batch. There were 72 of us on the trail. Nobody warned me — you can warn the next person.”
Five taps and a few honest lines — about two minutes.
